if a block has a scored crank on the #2 cyl, what would need to be replaced to get it running? any machine work involved? im thinking about picking up this block really cheap to build up. thanks

Replace the crank and the bearings - main and rods...you will have to get the correct bearings by looking a the numbers stamped n the rods and crank. So, there is no damage to the rod that spun the bearing? No discoloration?

you can take the crank to a machine shop and see if they can grind the crank. if they can you need to get thicker bearings, rod or main where ever the the crank was scored.

ACL bearings will work fine for your rebuild. If your crank is bad, you can have it reground and acl makes a special oversized bearing just for that

it depends on how bad its scored/marked
if its not bad you can have it polished off at an engine builder shop for 100-200$ but if you can feel the mark with your finger you may need to replace the crank. its best to have a professional look at it and see what they reccomend.
