The Next level will be to develop a pic micro-controller with a Pic-16f88 programming it to multiply per x7 factor ...

Icon7 ALL BULBS TURNED ON! S2000 CLUSTER 2007

I was testing all the lights and "modding" something on cluster circuit in order to make the bulbs light on properly ... so there are some diodes must be REMOVED from the cluster board in order to make it proper for the Eagle Talon ... but those mods I will include on my final pdf, I will work now for a solution for almost everything, leaving aside the coolant temperature sensor that works on canbus iso 9141-2 system, this coolant is necessary to make a circuit for the can tranceiver, also ... it needs a "Ecu" computer, it is a mcu that is able to communicate with cluster through the tranceiver circuit I've made ... then this mcu will read the coolant and transform to canbus messages... I will leave this aside for while, because it is complicated as the heavens!

Also the "outside ambient temperature function" is another tricky stuff ... as it need the speedometer runs in a frequency for some minutes and only then it will show some Ferenheit temp on that ... also can't be changed to celcius, only ferenheit ...

Icon7 IMPROVED FUEL & TACHO CONVERTER S2000 TO DSM

There we are, I improved the circuit and added a zener diode of 5.1 in order to protect the tacho\input from s2000 cluster, however ... all those japanese clusters are short circuit protected...

The fuel gauge does not worked properly ... as it shows 2 bars when the fuel level unit is all down .... there is something else that must be made! ahhh gosh! I am going to try to sort this today, also the tachometer converter did not accepted a zener diode of 5.1 volts! I don't know why ... that protection diode can't be used, but I am going to confirm...

The zener protection must be between the collector and ground, also it must be a 5.6volts zener then regulate the small difference on resistors and trimpot, lets try again...

Hi, I'm greatly interested in your k-line converter.

I've installed a 2005 S2000 cluster in my delsol, but I want to put a 2006+ and use the external temp to show oil temp.

About your fuel gauge, you've found a wrong information.

The S2000 fuel sending unit goes from 11-13ohm (Full) to 130-132ohm (empty)

The 110ohm information you've got is somewhat good, because the low level light goes on between 116 and 120ohm.

I've also got some heat problem from the resistors of my fuel conversion signal, did you have some ?

For the vss input, I'm using a mod I've found here on honda-tech using a pic 16f628, I can share the schematics and program if you want.

The information I got was provided by myself! I could not find any information in regards the fuel, I found those settings testing .... thinking, testing and thinking again .... making prototypes of circuits and testing it ...

Yes, if you look on previous post here, I got a layout for making it to work with my fuel level sending unit.

I will rethink the fuel converter using the information you provided me in regards the fuel converter ...

The external temp I still could not finish as I must find out the resistance of front bumper ambient temperature sensor and it is tricky as the speed vss must be at 30kmph for some minutes for this to read the temperature!

Oil temperature the cluster does not has, it has a oil life in percentage % it shows the oil life maybe based on what temperature the engine was heated, but it does not has nothing else than only that...

I am programming a pic 16f88 to speed heal, but still could not upload the hex into the micro-controller, yes I want that speedometer frequency with your pic 16f628 to think and have a second converter if my first one does not work.

The coolant converter is based on canbus, they are two boards, one mcu that reads the variable resistance to this mcu and then it send can-messages through a transceiver I've created studying the datasheets of Mc33290 transceiver (the same tranceiver of the cluster), but it still is not ready .... it is buggy and I must think alot on that ....

I really want your converter, you can send it to me italiangirardi (at) gmail (dot) com

In order for you to install the 2006+ cluster, you must make the following converters:

Speedometer VSS is 28hz per 1-kmph (eagle talon is 4hz per 1 kmph) then you must multiply per 7............4x7=28hz

Tachometer converter, you must create a circuit with resistors and a protection zener and transistor npn to switch the frequency, it cannot over voltage 5.3volts or the cluster may blow up the mcu.

The fuel gauge, I created something with two tantalum capacitors two resistors and a pot, it need the circuitry also, but you have another solution for this, please share!

you must remove some diodes from the cluster and cut two tracks to make the bulbs work properly.

And finally the coolant, as I told you it needs a transceiver and a mcu that will read the coolant resistance and convert into messages that will be sent through the transceiver to the cluster iso-kline input.

Willem 5.0c is the worst choice some human may have! it is a crappy burner, almost all of them are fake falsified, it does not work properly with any software, I've tested the winpi800, willem all versions, changed the jumper to 3b and used the software for 3b board and nothing at all, it is a nightmare, I lost one week trying to make it work and does not work, there is not support for it any around the world, but it seems that now a company called sivava ordered those crappy projects and they are selling kits without any kind of support, you pay for a programmer that does not work at all and there is not support at all, you loose time, your patience goes into a zero limit, all you want is to kill some one!

The most strange stuff is that is even does not read properly bios or any stuff plugged, then I ordered the willem 5.5c and the results could not be worse, the same errors, the same problems, then I installed the stuff on another computer and the same problems, the same results, it does not worked and I lost alot of time, money and patience! I would advise the world to avoid this crappy willem all the versions it is the worst choice a human being may choose to make any kind of application, I got two of them on my ****!

Icon7 MAKING YOUR OWN 16F88 BURNER STRAIGHT FROM COM PORT!

Now that we lost a couple of times, money and patience, lets go that simple, I found with precision a very simple programmer that you can make it using some parts that will cost nothing for you, only a db9 and cable ... some resistors, diodes and a couple of electrical knowledge, then you will be sorted, I am going to make this burner tomorrow and test if it works, anything will be more useful than that useless crappy willem all versions bugged without support.

And for those that come to me telling advise this willem is good, I will advise another couple of histories, as the 3 little pigs and another history the little red riding hood that has a surprising final when the bad wolf eats the grandmother.

Icon7 THE PROGROMMER WORKED PERFECT AND THE HEX WAS UPLOADED!

GREAT!

This programmer worked perfect, it programmed perfect the 16f88, using the icprog on com1 selecting the jdm programmer...

This means that .... now the vss of speedometer will work.

welll.....im waitting......with my RSX 2006 DC5 Type R cluster.....i taked some lines in analog way....looking this by my self....i have every thing working with some wires extra....but the only thing i need it is the temp gauge....im planing to get an serie K ECU.....in my contry are to many junkyard....i think can get it....so.....thinking on put an K series ECU between my obd1 ECU to put just to work the temp gauge...cause the temp gauge line dont pass on the multiplex....is directly to the gauge to the ECU.....so i want to be sure about it....thanks man.....

Sad news for all who path this topic

I’ve found Ronildo Girardi’s (aka phoenix_girardi), brother Ronilso in gravatai rio grande do sul - Brazil.

He told me his brother passed away early 2013 and the world lost a one more brilliant and curious mind!

his project a Mitsubishi Eclipse with this s2000 cluster are sold and the new owner sold the cluster (fully functional) apart.

this part (a s2000 2007+ cluster with a lot of mods and boards homemade by girardi) fallen in my hands and I’ll do my best to reverse engineering your work and realize his wishes to leave a open source information...

if anyone has interest and can help please tell me!

at the moment I,ve done some information about the board called “fuel - tach - hazard/alert” pinout and design

the other board “temperature converter” still are a “enigma” to me (for a while)

above a pic from temperature converter
