Default Running hot

My buddys car is starting to run hot when he stops for stop lights. What can this be.. leakin in radiator... thermostat? any help would be awesome!

Flush the system, change the water pump, get a new thermostat, you should be the one telling us if its leaking not us telling you.

1.) check coolant level
2.) check fan operation (it should turn on and off)
3.) look for leaks
4.) check temps of inlet & outlet hoses

I'd check the fan operation first.


if the fans don't turn on,
try turning on the a/c and see if the fans turn on.
if they do you might have a bad temp switch
if they don't you may have burned out fuse or a fan motor or loose wire.

how old is the radiator
