Rod knock or lma's?
I have a b18c5 with a "knock"(not a ticking, more like a rattle) that starts at 2000rpms and goes faster as the revs get faster.I did the spark plug test to see if is a rod knock and the noise is still there.Wouldn't a rod knock be audible all the time and wouldn't the motor by blown by now(after dynoing and 2hr drive home from the dyno.)?any thoughts?
If it was/is a rod nock,it should be knocking all of the time, even at idle.Did you do a compression test? The rod knock would most likely be a spun rod bearing,so that cylinder would be lower in compression due to there not being a bearing and the piston sitting lower. Also, check the valve clearances to make sure there is nothing wrong in that area.
did valve adjustment and took each spark plug out revd it alittle and the sound is still there.??????????????????time to take the oil pan off i guess
