rod knock??? searched
I just bought this car. I dont know if its a rod know or just need a really bad valve adjustment. It is really loud when you turn it on. when I drove it . it ran fine was doing 65 like nothing. It wasn't making a noise at this speed. But at a stop it will dye out. will be doing a compression test tomorrow.

thats not really a very good explanation though, because piston slap will sound the same as that too</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well he shouldn't be getting piston slap when he's at operating temp unless his motor is on its way out.

Pull the valve cover off and bring the #1 piston to TDC and check the clearance on the rockers.
