Default Retarded timing

can having your timing retarded a couple of degrees cause it to stall out when coming to a stop sometimes? What are the pros and cons of doing this?

Possibly if it is retarded too much.. There really isnt any benefit to doing this unless your running really low octane gas.. The best setting for your timing is to honda factory specs..

16 degrees is fine. If you want to advance it to 17 or 18 is fine if you have i/h/e for a little more top end

my friend had his car dyno tuned (all he has is bolt ons) and the guy who did it retarded the timing a couple of degrees and every now and then it will stall out when he comes to a stop. I was curious if this might be his problem? I know advancing will help a little but I wasnt sure if retarding the timing was a good idea.
Also, he is running a 2000 b16. should it be set back to 0?
Whats the best setting for a 2000 B18c5?
