resleeving blocks
has anyone resleeved there block with stock sleeves...im wonder if there is a big price difference between stock sleeves and aftermarket sleeves...if so how much?...or is it not possible???...the block i have that needs resleeving is a b18c
Hate to tell you, but there are no such things as Honda sleeves that I know of. I've resleeved blocks with Darton MID sleeves before. When you cut the Honda sleeve out it's ribbed. They are cast in with the aluminum. I know there are aftermarket sleeves that still let the open deck and are cheaper if you want to go that route, but be sure to check for oversized pistons first. From what I can tell you should be at least able to get another mm over stock bore. Just because a company doesn't advertise these sizes, it doesn't mean they still don't make them.
Replacing the stock sleeve with a replacement style sleeve is much cheaper and easier than a performance sleeve. Most any automotive machine shop can handle this. The sleeves are simple designs and either has a small lip on the top to locate it or are simply straight and locate by leaving a ledge at the bottom. If it was an ls or b16 I'd just say find another block and sell yours to someone who wanted a performance sleeve. But b18c's blocks go for $400 or so and you can get your block repaired for a third of that.
