Replaced distributor - Now back fire issue - no start
I have an 88 Integra. Driving home the other night at 130kph (85 mph) engine cuts out a little then shuts down. Got it home and quick diagnosis shows burnt bearing in distributor. The rotor even melted!! Not an easy fix but I have a spare! Great! Not really. I put it in hooking everything up properly and POW major back firing. No start at all. Just turns over and back fires once or twice really really loud. I take out the distributor recheck ALL hookups and all is OK. Coil tests as good. Cap and rotor are brand new. I advanced and retarded timing and still no start.

If it was 180 off then it wouldn't sit flush against the head. Check your firing order that sounds like the problem.

Nope not always true. I put my Dizzy on 180 off and it sat flush.....But 95% of the time you can't do it. It does sound like you have the firing order wrong.
