to make a long story short, my timing belt jumped teeth and my valves bent. i got the head worked on and the car didnt start. i figured out that the distributor was out too. my question is, what messed up what?
Did a faulty distributor cause the timing to skip, or did the jumped timing cause the distributor to break? TIA

 

My guess is dist bearing was starting to seize-up, causing the belt to jump...

 

distributor might've loosened up, kicked out at an angle binding hard on the cam and therefore making the belt jump...
my guess at least..

 

If a distributor base bearing siezed the heat it generated probably fried the sensors. check the bearings and if they are bad the easiest thing to do is just replace the distributor.
