Removing Rom?
Hey guys i got my P28 socketed and hondata S200 from lighting. i wanted to know how i am suppose to remove the rom off to replace with another rom that i have burned a EPROM on. Can I take the Rom out and put in my Zif quick release or is that a bad idea?
There's a forcep/tongs type tool that you can use to pull the ROM chip straight up out of the socket so it doesn't bend any of the pins.
I usually just use a small standard screwdriver to twist it up slowly since I don't need to do it often.

You don't remove the stock ROM. You install the socket for the new chip in a location that is near the stock one. A jumper is added that "selects" the new socket and ROM. If the jumper is removed, the ECU will then read the original ROM.

oh ok. Haha i was kinda trying to remove it yesterday but it wouldn't move really so i didn't tamper with it much. Good thing i asked. I guess i will have to look and see where they socketed it. Thanks. Anyone got pics?
you i don't think i have my P28 socketed like that. It only has one rom in there and thats it. There is no jumper connecting it another rom or anything like that. Anyone know where i can buy a Spoon chip or Skunk2 chip or any other program like those?
