Default rebuild quesion

Does anyone know what the standard pricing would be on honing & hot tanking a block for a rebuild? And an aproximate time frame to have completed? also, on the rebuild I have a new water pump, dizzy, starter, & alternator. i will then need to get pistons, rings, wrist pins, connecting rods, fuel pump, and the just general mainatanence stuff like plugs wires, etc. Am i missing anything?

This is a difficult question to answer, simply because the price range for such things can vary so much from shop to shop. I know of a shop that will build a complete bottom end (bore, hone, balance, spec bearings, press pistons on rods, and assemble) for about $800. This includes the price of the bearings. But I've also seen shops charge a lot more. So it really varies on what you want done and where you get it done.

Don't forget about all new gaskets and such when building a motor. It may seem like little stuff, but it sure adds up quick. Best of luck with your build.

It'll only take them a couple hours at most to clean and hone your block once they actually get to it. Like the man said that'll depend on the particular shop you deal with. I paid $125 to have my block honed and line bored, it took one day. Remember they should request your pistons & rings prior to honing, if they don't they probably aren't doing it as well as they might.

yea, new gaskets & what not is general maintanence to me, thanks for the info. I'm bulding an a6 block so I'll be getting new pistons, and bearings & all from honda to ensure reliability & then send it off for machining. Thanks ya'll.
