I've been searching for the same thing. I just gutted the rear of my 95 hatch and I remember seeing some pics on here before showing this same sort of thing. Isn't the idea to remove a lot of the rear floor of the car including the spare tire well and replacing it with aluminum sheet metal? Doesn't that mod usually coincide with removing the fuel tank and replacing it with a fuel cell too? I would love to see some pics of this mod showing what all is safe to cut out and how the new sheet metal should be attached. Rivets? Does the car have to be caged to do this?

Does anybody have more pics of this or know anything about how it's done? Thanks in advance if someone is willing to post some better pics of it.

you'd probobly get better responses in the welding/fabrication section, or in the drag race section.

Wow...that car above does not look safe . It looks like too much metal was removed. I realize its not a street car but, there is hardly any support left for the rear susp.

the car would definitely need to be caged, there would be way too much flex otherwise

the car in this thread looks fine to me in terms of having enough support for the rear of the car, its not all that heavy back there, me and a friend can easily pick up the rear of his gutted race car :-)

there would definitely be no point in doing something like this and NOT switching to a fuel cell setup

looks like garbage, who would want to destroy a car like that, even for drag racing. Thats like making the car into a heap of junk.
