Default ls vtec with virgin p28

i tried searching with "ls vtec p28" and "ls vtec ecu" but i get alot of **** with just 'vtec' and such so im just gonna ask and hopefully get a straight answer.

can i run my ls vtec built with gsr head and low comp(9.5:1) pistons, with a normal p28. or would it be a risky deal. i have a chipped p28 thats for the motor but i just need to find time to get it from the guy who bought the car my friend left it in.

well the car will start and run but it wont run as strong. i suggest the chipped p28 but the motor will start and run sluggish with the stock p28

9.5:1 is a safe compression for a ls/vtec setup, but running a ecu from a 1.6L engine to a 1.8L engine isn't the best to do as a permanent resolution. To turn on the car and break it in slowly, it will work but you want to consider getting a tuner to tune the car and give you a good base map to run on and fine-tune the engine with the fuel maps and a/f ratio.

Running the p28 to break in the motor would probably be fine, however; I suggest not to use the ecu because of the different fuel setups, but if you are planning on riding hard......save it for the up grade ecu.

Anyway... ls/vtec setups tends to have loose rod bolts because the block was not made to handle the higher rpm.........so I suggest you use ARP bolts on the rods just to stay on the safe side. The cylinder compression should be good for the engine with the 9 compression since the ls/vtec should bump the compression up a little

ive already got eagle rods with the arp's for it. i just want the motor to run for now till i can get my turbo **** situated so i can just tune it once. it would hopefully only be for a very short time and i wouldnt drive it hard.

it's simple...DRIVE THE CAR NORMAL. I've done it tons of times. I have a fully biult Lsvtec and I never took my charge pipe off or anything silly like that. just drive it normal until you a re ready to tune.

he didn't ask about rod bolts. just driving. and it's not the block that can't handle it. it's just the rods bolts, the stock ones streach.
