Re-locating batter to the trunk
I plan to re-route the battery to the boot to free up some space in the engine bay. How hard is this task? and what sort of cables should i be purchasing?
TIA

I relocated mine in my 3rd Gen Teg. Its not really that hard, just very time consuming making sure all connections are away from high "wear" areas and snaking some of that cable through.
I used a battery box from WAL MART(13$), then i bought some generic battery cables(40$), then i purchased a high amperage circuit breaker with 150amp fuse(20$), then lastly i got a distribution block to connect all the POSITIVE wire under the hood into one block(30$)
Everything went smoothly, but make sure you ground your battery to somewhere on the BACK(where the tail-lights are)of the car. Mine didnt seem to work when i grounded it on the rear shock tower bolt. Dont know why, but mine just didnt?
Only drawback i have from the install is, i wish i could've used LARGER GAUGE power cable. The 4guage i used seems to loose power because the car's lights are dim at idle, then when i rev up, you can see the lights get just a shade brighter. Its nothing i loose sleep over, but if i were to do it again, id use 2gauge that time.
O yea, the battery strap that came with box, i tossed. Get one of those RATCHETING types. That way you can strap the lid down tight. The factory HONDA battery is very small when put inside this box. You may, as i, hafta use some rubber/foam pieces to hold it more securely. Ive got some pictures of my battery box in the trunk if you want. Its nothing special, jus looks like a box in the trunk on the passengers side.
Good luck,
Tony

I moved the battery to the spare tire well of my Wagon. I used the stock bracket to hold the battery down, and 2 gauge wire that I got for free. The total cost was $2 for the terminals.
just for thought i would strongly suggest not moving it to the trunk unless you absolutely have to, you want the most possible weight in the front (without adding weight) that you can.
