Short shifter problems
well i just bought a 91 civic si hatch. the car came w. a shortshifter (brand?) ACT clutch, DC sports headers, random tech cat, and thermal exhaust. well it was fine for a while shifting but the weather has gotten to be around 97 deg. here in NY. well ever since the weather has gotten hotter i have noticed that it is really hard to shift my car into gear at a stop. any gear! i have to push so hard sometime i have to use 2 hands and i'm afraid the shifter will break. i'm not a small guy, but i noticed that every great once in a while it will grind 1st gear then shift fine. could a lack of transmission fluid be the cause or do i need to adjust my clutch pedal? i haven't checked the fluid yet but i'm going to tomarrow.
I had the same problem with a 91 civic with zc motor, act clutch, si trans and such. I needed to adjust the clutch that was all. Use a clymer manual or whatever to find where the clutch adjustment is and adjusted to make it tighter.
i've been having the same problems with my dc short shifter installed in my 94 ex coupe. i also had a new clutch put in the same week so i wasnt sure what was causing the problem. just like was said before, it is really hard to get it in any gear from a stop in neutral. unless you are on a hill where the car can roll forward a bit and then it will slip into gear no problem. anyone else have any input on this topic. if it is the clutch needing adjustment i am going to take it back to the shop that did it and have them re-adjust it, for free of course! thanks for any hlep uyou guyd can give us.
