Default rapid misfire problem. please help!

ok, here's the deal. my d16z6 has a rapid misfire problem under moderate load and below 3k rpms or so. significant loss of power while misfiring. it sounds kinda like a fully automatic machine gun going off. after ~3k rpms it pulls normally with full power.

new parts:
timing belt/h2o pump
cap/rotor
primary ground wires
spark plugs (gap at 1.1mm = OE spec)

i have tried a second MAP sensor, and both behave the same

everything is normal. timing is dead on and checked with a timing light. idle is stable, but when the radiator fan comes on, it struggles to stay running. ideas?

edit: CEL is off

hows your alternator/ battery? Did the problems occur after you replaced those parts? My car has similar problems when the alternator/battery was going. One went causing the other to go bad i think.

It sounds like you are off a few teeth on the timing

timing is dead on, and confirmed with a light. that is not the problem.

i will be putting in new plug wires, and trying a second ignitor tonight.

after swapping the engine in it misfired a bit under 3krpms and idled really rough. well, the #1 spark plug wasn't gapped properly. once i gapped it to 1.1mm, the idle stabilized, and this "rapid misfire" started up.
