wierd startup problem.....

Default wierd startup problem.....

I have never came acroos a problem like this before and cannot figure it out myself so hopefully comin here and askin might help me out.

lately when i start my car and only at start up, the battery light will flicker on and off for a couple minutes and the engine rpm will raise and drop as well. I tried checkin all the connections and ran new grounds from the battery and the problem still is happenin. but like i said it only happens at startup and after the few minutes it runs fine. can someone help me out cause this is confusing the hell out of me. thanks.

how low are the rpms dropping, to the point where it almost stalls..... that could be why the light comes on and goes off once the rpms come back up. could have a small idle problem ya know maybe adjustment on the air screw or timing being off.

well when you start from a dead cold your engine is around 1500rpms so i would say if it's not your iacv it's prob either the alternator is bad, the belt is slipping, or the alternator ground

sorry for the late reply i was away from the comp all last night, well when i first start it up it will idle cold at about 1500 then it drops to around 850 900 when the light comes on.

I think i can rule the altternator out because you can feel it take over when the light comes on, its almost as if someone is disconnecting and reconnecting the battery while its runnin. but all the battery cables are new and it still does it..

Where would the alternator ground be located?

how good is your battery? whens the last time you checked it?

i never changed an alternator but i'm pretty sure there's a connection directly on the alternator for the ground
