raising the CR on a b18a
well i know there are several ways to do it.
one is to have the head milled.
another is to put higher CR pistons in.
maybe thinner head gasket..
etc.
i'm considering some CTR pistons in my LS block.
i know i'll have to machine the rods to fit them
theres only one problem, i'm going to buy myself some Eagle Rods.. and there's no way i'm gonna machine them. later down the line i'm going Turbo so i'm gonna want to use lower CR JE pistons. but for now i just want to use some B16 pistons that i can get for cheap.
heres my idea.. machine the piston to fit the rod..?
what do you all think?
thanks in advance.

there is no sense in taking the engine apart twice. IF you really have to then just put the CTR piston onto the stock rods for now then when you decide to go for the JE pistions put them onto the eagle rods.
Why would you waste your money on pistons that you will only use for a while......how much are those pistons????? BUY SOME NOS.....you are going to replace the pistons and rods anyway.....and you better replace the rings when you get the new JE's. So in the meantime upgrade your fuel system and get some NOS, you will have to upgrade your fuel for the turbo anyway so what the hell right!?! BTW, don't go more than 50-55 shot.
Edit: and a used NOS kit is easier to sell than used pistons.

ok this is the deal.
i'm getting some radical JG cams today. i'm also picking up an extra b18a block with balanced crank. (it needs pistons and rods)
i'm building this LS motor to rev. but i also want more CR
i'm currently in college and will be for 4 more years, (5 year mechanical engineering degree) i dont think i will have the $$ for a turbo setup still i graduate.
i have access to full machine shop, and dyno here at college.
when i put the built motor in, i'll have my old b18a thats in my car left to build. i plan on resleeving it with golden eagle sleeves. and a whole bunch of other stuff for the turbo setup.
i live a few blocks from college so even if i had to take the block apart again, thats no big deal to me, i can walk to school. and if i need ride my fiance (wife in september 1, 2002) to give me ride or use her car.
i've built other motors, this just happens to be my first honda.
