Eagle rods - What pistons?
Hi guys - I bought some second hand eagle rods for my B16A2 a few months back. They came with oversized SRP pistons.
I'm not needing the pistons as i'm only running 81.0mm but my question is:
Do i need to buy SRP pistons? Or will any forged piston be ok?
If i buy Wossner or CP pistons, will they still fit the eagle rods?

All aftermarket pistons that use the same diameter wrist pin, which *should* be the same for all shelf honda pistons and floating wrist pins will fit.
But why not run the pistons it came with? Typically depending on the age and health of the motor the only way to ensure good ring seal is to bore and hone for the next largest piston diameter. Unless they are crazy low compression or larger than 82mm I don't see a problem. What kind of power are you wanting to make?
Also inspect the rods carefully. Looks for sign of discoloration on both ends, any signs of stress cracks, surface damage, damage to the inner diameter of both rod ends, etc. Do you know how many miles/years/rebuilds these rods have on them? Depending on that the rod bolts might need to be replaced as they stretch every time they are torqued to yield and eventually become too long and loose too much tensile strength. I would suggest that you measure the bolt length to see if the bolts are all close in length or if there's a big difference in lengths.

Aiming for 300bhp (My stock engine made 260bhp before the ringlands let go)
I was thinking about using them - they're designed to fit a 81.5mm cylinder, but i can't confirm the compression. The older SRP pistons didn't have any numbers stamped on them.
The rods look to be in great condition. I was told they're only a few hundred miles old but i can't prove this. They have ARP studs - I've heard that they aren't torque to yield but correct me if i'm wrong.

You could always just cc the pistons yourself couldn't you?
And honestly, running 81mm isn't wise. I doubt you'll be able to get the optimal piston to wall clearance unless you get lucky. Might as well just bore it fresh.

unless sleeved i would stick with 81mm pistons you can gain the clearance you need from honing strongly recommend sleeves i blew my sleeves. i prefer je but any forged piston will do. this time round i opted for wisecos for the price difference the only downside is the skirt hangs lower which if you have oil squirters they have to be bent or removed so the skirt wont break i just blocked them off.
