Default Questions about chipping ecu and keeping a seperate Vtec controller

I just need help in understanding why some people have their ecu chipped with Chrome/Hondata and still have a Apexi/Fields Vtec controller at the same time? Does this make a difference when tuning the car? Or is it just for monitoring the engine so to speak? Any info would help. Thanks

if you're having the car tuned via the program in the chip, then there is no purpose to the controller. Maybe to look pretty is about all.

If you're running a chip that you purchased and don't have the ability to tune it's contents, sometimes moving the VTEC point may result in a few hp, but it may cause problems also.
