Default Question on high revving

Besides springs, retainers, changing rev limiter, what kind of mods do you need in order to make your engine rev higher, be stable, and change the power band. In other words, if I wanted to make my LS rev higher and breath better up top. Is it possible (or worthwhile even) to modify the above in order to make more power. Or would LS/vtec make more sense. I know the LS head doesn't flow as well as its vtec brethren, but I was wondering if you could get the same results with mods to the existing head. I hope this makes sense. I'm writing this in a hurry.....No flames pleaaaasee.....

balance the bottom end and replace any weak points such as LS rod bolts.

Spend dyno time tuning some good aftermarket cams and replace the ECU.

I'm a big fan of bigger cams and a PandP job for a straight LS. the Valve train upgrade will help stick to the cams up there, but air still is gonna have a prob flowing that fast with a stock head

But, as is always true. Quality tuning makes all the difference in the world

balance the crankshaft? balance the flywheel? is that all to balance?

should the pully be balanced?

(balance is such a strange word when you keep writing it!)

are hte B20B rod bolts the same as B18's?

thanks,

t..

I have a friend who spent way too much for what he got. he bought, springs, retianers, cams and a ported ls head. After the install, his car was still way slower than if he just added a tiny bit more money and got a turbo. Which he later regreted not doing. I dont think you should go ls/vtec because finding a person that can build you a quality(reliable) one will be difficult and it'll cost the same if not more than a turbo to do correctly.

most importantly you need cams/cam that will make power above the stock redline.
