Would bad valve seals cause a loss in performance? I think my seals are going bad, it smokes a little too..

 

probably 5-10 hp lost depending on how quick your burn oil. how bad is it anyways?

 

One and a half quarts every oil change.. Not to bad.. Motor has 105,000 miles and I replaced all gaskets and new pistons and rings at 95,000.. Just forgot to do the valve seals while it was apart..

 

I suggest a compression test.

 

A leakdown test wouldn't hurt either.

 

my compression was 215-220 in all four cylinders, warm car, all wires removed, wot.,

 

does the car has blue smoke coming out the tailpipe every morning or everything u first started the car?if yes ,then u need to replace valve seals.checked ur distributor o-ring might be leaking oil there.
