Default question about a block

i have a gsr that was just built and installed. we ran the car and noticed oil coming out of the block right behind the dip stick. it seems to be a small steady flow of oil. someone suggested i weld it, kinda like a patch. has anyone had experience with this. will this be a safe solution to the problem? thanks for the help

You mean it's leaking out of the dipstick tube? Those are press-fit if I remember correctly. You might want to consider some silicone sealant or epoxy rather than welding it. Whatever you do, make sure the area is thoroughly cleaned beforehand, since any amount of oil will affect the integrity of the fix.

no its not leaking out of the dip stick. the leak is coming from the actual block. there seems to be a hair line crack right behind where the dip stick is. i was told i could weld it shut because that area is not under a great amount pressure. what do you guys think?
