Default Properly balancing the bottem end

While sitting in a meeting, I got to thinking about how to best balance the bottom end. If all the pieces (pistons, rods, crank, flywheel, crank pulley, clutch, pressure plate) are balanced *individually*, could you assume that they would all be balanced as an assembly?

If I am getting my pistons and rods coated, is there enough coating material such that the balance would be off if it was balance prior to coating?

Any comments would be welcomed.

thanks,
-S
