Default Problem 99 civic si

everytime i start the car the rpm gauge idles at 1 1/2 what is going on here? any thoughts

Nothing to do with the weather trust me. I would not have touch the car all weekend and monday morning start it up and on the left of where the speed is shown the rpms stays on 1 and a half till i step on the gas but when i get to the light again its at 1 1/2 always?

He wasnt talking about the weather, he was trying to see if the car was at opertating temp. When the engine is "cold" the idle is higher.

Does the idle go back to normal once you have been driving for 5-10 minutes or so?

whats the theromostat and radiator fluid have to do with his idle?


When your car is cold it usally idles around 1200/1300 and slowly decreases down to 750/800 depending on your motor setup etc. usally its 750/800

anyways dont rev or beat on the car while its cold, very bad for it.
