What does detonation really sound like? I always heard it was a pinging, but when I'm on the bottle, it seems to have an odd popping. No loss of power, no odd holes in the block, just sounds like **** falling out from under my car. I know this sounds odd, but I've been a Honda parts man for 10 years, and no techs I know have any idea. Maybe something to do with bottle pressure? It was kind of cold last night...

you sound like you are leaning out. what type of nitrous kit do you have and is it wet or dry. how many shot, have there been any retards on timing

 

make sure you are using good gas nothing under premium

 

I had a D16Y8 that did that on the bottle. Then one day my number 1 rod went on vacation through the front of the block. Don't know if I was running too lean but I was using that ZEX kit. Still don't know about that thing. Anyway that's what happened to me. Since then I learned alot, like if I drive it everyday don't use NOS. Some guys do, but I gotta make it to work yunno? it's a dry shot, 65 hp, Zex plugs, timing retarded 2 degrees...

 

check the plugs, see if you are detonating.
