PLEASE HELP!!
My wifes 1991 Accord has a problem where for no reason at all it
will not start. It just turns over and over and over. I checked
plugs, plug wires, filters etc, all ok. It is completely random as to
when it does it. We also had a 92 Civic withe the identical
problem a couple years ago. Any information is appreciated

An engine only needs 3 things to run:
1) compression
2) spark
3) fuel
Obviously, its not the compression, so try these things next time it doesn't start:
-Since its a 91, there is a very big possibility its the ignition module. Check it for spark.
-Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key? (if your not familiar, it sounds like a faint whining sound) If it has spark, try a quick shot of starter fluid into the intake. See if that gets it to fire over for a split second.
-Does the computer throw a code? If you check the ecu code, it will tell you exactly whats wrong.
Like i said, STRONG possibility its the ignition module. Almost all of them from the late 80s up to the eartly 90s (the ones that are brown in color, made by NEC) eventually go bad.

Battery?? Also check the battery terminal clamps to make sure it is clean from corrosion.
oh my, if the engine turns but will not start what does that tell you??? i dont no what you hear but when an engine turns but wont start means the battery is good no need to check anything in the charging system. i say ignition or fuel system that needs some attention.

Actually- the NEC igniters are good- Both brown and black OKI igniters are junk- NEC igniters are beige and HITACHI igniters are green or grey.

Hey, fixhondas, your right about that. Thanks for catching my mistake.
must have been thinking with the wrong side of my brain
Either way, brown = bad almost always in that year car.

They want your money!! bottomline.. It's like medicine, doctors don't cure anything, they just find ways for you to live with it. If they fix these units to where they will not fail(which they can do), then nobody would ever have to come back to the dealership= no $$$ for them. Medicine is where the money is, just like parts is where the money is. just my .03 cents.
we only sell the NEC igniters. HITACHI igniters are special order. I have seen literally hundreds of OKI igniters go bad compared to 2 NEC igniters- I have yet to see a bad HITACHI. (at least 90- up accords, ludes, etc and 88- up civics)
