Plastigage Help engine builders have a peek please
This is my first time building a motor so I just want to make sure I'm doing it right, I'm going to assume because I'm not in the second green on any of them that these bearings are ok...
Main#1 Clearance should be 0.0008-0.0020

Main#2 Clearance should be 0.0008-0.0020

Main#3 Clearance should be 0.0010-0.0021

Main#4 Clearance should be 0.0005-0.0020

Main#5 Clearance should be 0.0004-0.0020

way too ****** tight you have nun like clearances there....0015" is a pretty decent main journal clearance if you ask me...
Those are my stock bearings i was checking them to see if they were still any good I agree they are kinda tight... but thats the way honda put it together
The main reason I posted was I couldn't figure out how to use the gauge that came with the plastigage... and after more time then i care to admit I figured it out. So for any noobs that have the same problem I did this is for you:
The plastigage shows you 4 thickness 0.001, 0.0015, 0.002, 0.003
The flater the plastigage the tighter the clearance, 0.001 being the tighter clearance. The thicker the plastigage = more clearance (0.003)
Hope that helps somebody
