Main bearing: Journals Number 1, 2, 4, and 5 should measure between 0.0009 - 0.0017 inch, while Journal Number 3 should measure between 0.0012 - 0.0019.

Rod bearings: Differ by engine, but about 0.0015 - 0.0020.

If you in fact are getting 0.004 they are too loose. Are you measuring the clearance with plastigage?

Does Clevite sell thicker bearings sets like ACL does?
Your going to need some seriously thick bearings to get you within spec.

Did you use plastigage, and, did you use the correct plastigage for your range or readings?

If you use the wrong plastigage, your readings will be way off.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by civiccoupehybrid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i have used dial bore indicator</TD></TR></TABLE>

dial bore indicator is good but always double check with plasigauge just to make sure.

the problem is that the clearance between old bearing and the crank is 0,0023
