Default This pic concerns me...

So a few months ago my bone stock GSR burnt an exhaust valve in cyl #1 due to unknown reasons, fixed that and it's back in the road again.

I recently bought a header for it and I know it's supposed to changed colors due to the heat but I noticed that cyl 1 and 2 are noticibly hotter than the rest, do you think it could be injectors? Fuel rail? I got a new fuel filter and have ran fuel system cleaner through it already.

I don't know why it's heating unevenly...

I don't want to burn another valve now...

pull the plugs and show us the pictures, also check the IM for physical obstruction and lastly pull the injectors to see if one is stuck or leaking. obviously the heat of each cylinders exhaust gas is not the same. Your valve burnt....check your head gasket. Its possible someone fucked with your car in the past and oil flow fucked up. this would cause wear on part of your camshaft but not another. pull the valve cover and lets see how everything is in there.

Well when I burned the valve a few months back, I changed the hg as well.

Had new valves, valve seal guides, cams and valvetrain installed.

I changed the injectors just now with some newer ones.

Here are some pix of then old injectors and the plugs:

Yeah see that one plug looks like its running richer than the others.

Those cracked seals look like you could have had a vacuum leak, maybe making you run lean.

Yeah the #1 plug looks richer, but how does that explain the high heat?

I'm hoping the new injectors I just put in does the trick, I will hook up the laptop and see the afr's 2maro.

Thanks again.

people too often associate high egt's with running lean, but running too rich will raise egt's also from unburnt fuel igniting in exhaust side of the head. thats atleast been true for me in rotaries, maybe not true in piston motors

good point, but if he had detonation in the header, he'd probably feel and hear it. sounds like knocking on a wooden door coming from outside the car.

without a detcan to the cabin you wont hear detonation over normal chatter, unless you know what to listen for.

Well damn, new injectors made the problem WORSE.

After I hooked up my laptop to the wideband the afr's were 16:1!! :-O

I tried to drive it down the street but the afr's were dangerous (16-17:1) so I turned back around and shut it off. Replaced them with my old ones again and afr's are back to normal...

I guess you can't judge a book by it's cover; the newer ones were in way better condition but I guess they are really clogged up. :-(

If your new injectors are OEM brand new, I'm almost certain that isnt the problem. You obviously have a problem elsewhere.

Oh they're definitely not new, they just LOOKED to be in better condition than my old busted ones but I guess they aren't.

I'm not sure what year they are from but I'm guessing they were OBDI since they clipped right onto the harness.

Here's a pic of the ones that didn't work out:

OH! Another thing, these newer ones had a little filter (I pulled one out to show) but my injectors that were in there didn't have ANY filter at all, is that normal???

those plastic filters...well i think there necessary. my 96 civic (OBD-II) has them stock, it could be an issue. Just to make sure, what year is your GSR? I'll check my helms to double check later, but yeah I believe those need to be there!

Hmmm so they could be OBD0 injectors? In that case that's why they ran crappy, no resister box...

Think again! If you don't know what you are talking about its best to not say anything at all unless.

Um look at your last 2 cylinders to thr right, much hotter. Now look at your last 2 injectors 2 the right.
Tips broke which makes it spray ALOT more fuel, and sloppy!
Those injectors should not be used anymore.
Buy some new ones and i bet your problem will go away.
Im surprised ur car runs with them lol, my b16 had a CRACKED tip and made my car run like ****.
If you know those "new" injectors are your same obd then have then cleaned and tested...Or clean them yourself..Clean the filters 2.

Yeah I don't understand, the ones with the cracked tips and missing filters run way better than the other newer ones.

I'm gonna clean the newer ones and check to see if they're saturated, thanks guys.
