I just bought a used header from a friend. He just painted it but didn't use high temp paint and never put it back on his car. What do you guys think I should do. I was considering just putting it on and if it burns off just repainting it but I don't want my engine bay to start smoking and whatnot.

 

Pick up some aircraft stripper from the local auto parts store and strip the paint off, then repaint it with high temp paint yourself. The paint will pretty much fall off with that stuff. Just brush it on or whatever, then let it sit for a little while and then pressure wash it.
