Default Oil pan keeps leaking?

I've changed the oil pan gasket and i used RTV Sealant on the gasket as it says in a Chiltons manual but that sh*t keeps leaking is there a certain type of RTV stuff i should use for the oil pan? Maybe a high heat kind?

make sure you torsque down the screws to appropriate torque. Plus as some sealant to it fo help give it a tighter seal.

Take the pan off. Clean both surfaces completely the pan and the block. Make sure the pan is not bent ont he flat surface. Replace gasket. Torque properly and it shouldn't leak. You can also use Hondabond HT.

Yes, there is a particular type of RTV its called HONDABOND, and it works wonders ^_-. take off the pan clean the surfaces, set pan on a falt surface to make sure it isnt warped buy new gasket apply hondabond as specified and gasket. Install pan and torque to specification

most common is to over torque the gasket and squeeze it causing oil to leak

Hondabond only! also i think the oil pan nuts are rated for inch pounds not foot pounds.....you will need a torque wrench calibrated to inch pounds.

Just go ask for Hondabond at the parts counter.

I don't torque down my oil pan...I run it up by hand, then add 1/4 to 1/2 turn to each. No more leaks. I've found that the spec of 9 ft-lbs is too much.

when you guys apply hondabond, do you apply it thinly to each side of the gasket? ie: between the gasket and pan... between the blobk and gasket... so there is sealant to both pressure areas?

maybe we didnt apply it as well as we thought. its leaking on the thinner side of the oil near the flywheel. turns into a puddle after 5 minutes.

When you put an oil pan on and torque the bolts the pan bends a little making dimples. Well the dimples face up towards the engine and if its at the right angle the metal can be pretty sharp. So if you don't pound the dimples out the next time you put the pan on, the dimples push against the gasket causing it to tear. The dimples look like this

when you take off the oil pan, make sure all surface is clean, and just put honda bonds on the edges. that should do it

Are you 100% Positive you got the little metal rings off the studs when removing the old gasket. This is really what this sounds like.

Sure it's not the main seal leaking?
