Default Oil Pan install

Ok putting in a new oil pan. Is there some kind of gasket sealer I should use or just the new gasket gonna be enough? This is going on a b18c

Do you put it on both the oil pan and the block? In the past on other cars I've only put it in the corners of the pan to secure the gasket. Oh i'm using a stud kit for the pan as well.

I always put a thin layer of RTV around the gasket on the pan. Torque to specs and never had any leaking problems.

According to the FSM it is 8 pounds/foot (96 pounds/inch) for the B18C. It also says to apply liquid gasket (Hondabond) (p/n 08718-0001 ) to the mating surfaces on the right side cover and the oil pump housing.

As stated previously, do not over tighten. 8-10ft/lbs is NOTHING. Anything more will cause the gasket to pop out and cause leaks.

Yup, in fact I would use a beam type torque wrecnh which usually come in LBS/INCH. That's why I included that number above. You'll also be less likely to overtorque it with one of those.

8 ft/lbs = 96 in/lbs.
