No...you cannot just plug it in because...remember an OBD II motor has more sensors than an OBD I motor. And also, the fact that some of the wires (distributor, alternator, etc.) are in different configurations using different connectors. This will cause a disaster in your electrical system..indeed.

So which parts would i have to swap from my old obd-ii motor? (distributor, alternator, etc.) I'm in the process of doing this right now and need guidance.

thanks

Why don't to just buy a obd2-obd1 conversion harness and an obd1 gsr ecu and be done with it. Seeing where you are located, you are able trying to put an older motor into a newer car so...doing this wouldn't be illegal in your area.

Btw...it would cost more time and money to do what you are doing for your information.

Alright I found a conversion harness for 100 on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...photo

Found this ecu: http://www.ecutuning.com/OBD1ECU.php

From what you're saying I just get those two pieces and use my existing obd II harness plug n play(somewhere I read u have to rewire) ?

YES, you are on the right track. With the obd1 longblock that you got, use your existing harness on you old motor, reuse your obd2 dizzy, reuse your obd2 altenator, and reuse your obd2 injectors. The plugs for the knock sensor and secondary o2 will not be plug in, but that is fine and you won't throw a cel. Everything else is plug and play. In the short and long runs ,you are benefiting.

BTW..the harness can be had for 80 shipped..that is how much i got mine

ECU are about 100-150 shipped.

Converting to obd1 is a smart idea while you are at it.

Ask if you have any more question

thanks alot man

Whered you get your wiring harness? If I cant find a differnt one...I just might get that "bumblebee" harness for 100 at ebay.

And I'm having a hard time trying to find ecu's ...I did find that "custom" one for about 180...

thanks again

I have all applications in stock as well as conversion harnesses if you need one. I'll package it all up.
