New pump gas blends deteriorating fuel lines?
I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this: I had a customer come in this morning with his injectors out of a RSX-S. He said he was throwing a misfire code on one cylinder and wanted us to clean and f.t. his injectors.
I asked a few questions about what was going on and he showed me pics of A LOT of black crud that he cleaned out of his fuel rail. Like a half dollar sized pile of black crud. He said it was rubbery, but couldn't identify it and was asking me where it may have come from.
Reflecting on a few conversations I had at PRI this year, I wondered if the pump gas he was using was deteriorating his fuel lines or possibly the float on the sending unit.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? His car only had 55K on it.
My EP3 has over 202K on it now and I've never seen anything like that in my injectors or rail...

I've seen it a bunch down here in sfl. I've only seen it on cars that were running e85 though. Its a rubbery substance, has the consistancy like a black rtv. Ive only had one car that had it in the fuel rail, all of the others had the build-up on the tip of the injectors.
After talking to some engineers that had it spectro analyzed, the best we could conclude was that it had something to do with with either the holding tanks/fueling tankers that have had both ethanol and pump gas in it.
Also it was nice to meet you at PRI, I was with Chris(Xenocron) when we spoke.
