Fuel Pump For 700 whp?
Hypothetically speaking, if one were to decide to go for more power, what sort of fuel system would you need to run? The current setup is a walbro 255l/hr pump, in tank, with stock fuel lines, and 720cc injectors.
I assume I would need to upgrade to say 1100 cc injectors, an out of tank pump, and larger fuel lines. Anyone have any info on what size fuel lines, what fuel pump, and what sort of fuel tank mods are required to get it to work?
Thanks!
Chris

I would think either an Aeromotive Inline or the Magnaflow Inline pump. Also I dont think 1100cc injectors will be enough. Unless your running 8 of em. I would say get the 1600cc injectors. For feed I would say -8AN. Then you can either use your stock return line or use -6AN for the return(its slightly bigger then stock). I would also either run a fuel cell or sump the stock tank.

why do u want 700whp in the first place? But to answer the question i'd reccomend an Aeromotive A1000 external fuel pump with a -10 feed line...and -8 all the way to the front. As far as injectors go, you might have to go with a set of primaries and secondaries, which means u would need 8 injectors.

EFI600 MagnaFlow or one of the bigger Weldons We run 1000's on Duc's car and they're just about perfect (up top ~75% DC). The Mags are rated at high pressure/volume which is the reason we use them most often (on Ralph's RX-7, Supra, David's EH2, and Duc's EJ6). Be prepared to spend ~$800 on just the pump tho. Just my $0.02
I know most of you have probably seen this before but here's how Scott and I did the sump/pump on Duc's EJ6

So your at 75% duty cycle on 1000cc injectors with Duc's car? What base fuel pressure are you at? That seems like it must start off at like 65psi or something.
Unless as you increase the size of the lines you can somehow manage to run a short duration of the injector being open as more fuel is available?? But I doubt this second idea.
He is at 700hp to the wheels right?

Re: Fuel Pump For 700 whp?
am I going to be able to get the car to idle correctly with 1000cc injectors? I guess the primary/secondary injector setup is best for this sort of thing...
How do you "sump" the stock fuel tank?
When you run two fuel rails, you are only running one pump right?
Thanks for the help guys,
Chris

Yea, you're really close, we have his base at ~60psi. He is still at slightly above 700whp as of the other day. These hp levels are really just a pain in the ***, especially with a heavy car like Duc's (2600lbs). Scott (CrazyCompression) and I took it out to the track the other day and traction is just a mess. You can get 1000's idle just fine, so don't be worried. As for the sump you can just buy an aftermarket one (we mainly just use CE's) then welded directly to the tank. If you do end up running an 8 injector setup for some reason as long as you're using a pump which will support the fuel you'll need a single one is fine.

Damn, so I went over to http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm and tried to calculate the BSFC. I took the 712whp # and multiplied by 1.125 to get estimated crank HP which equals 800hp. I pluged in 60psi rail pressure, and 75% duty cycle and came up with the BSFC at 0.42. These honda engines just blow my mind. They run so efficiently.

I was right around the 1000cc MAX injector duration on my 641hp run. We were running real rich but still I wouldn't have thought that they were good for more HP.
My base fuel pressure was probably around 50psi I think, I need to look.

That puts you around a .539 BSFC w/ a DC of 95% and crank Hp set at 718 according the RC injectors calculator.

Barry Grant King Sumo fuel pump will support up to 2000hp! It is pretty quiet as well and has a built in filter on it. http://www.jegs.com has them for $468.00, I have one and love it.

Re: (Boostfed)
Yea those Barry Grants are cool too and definately quieter, if don't like a loud pump then I wouldn't recommend the Mags. Brian has a BG on his car and so far it seems to work well

Re: (Kataku2K3)
How would a pump like this interface with a stock fuel tank, or do I need to throw a fuel cell in the trunk?? (I hate that idea!)
Is the stock return line sufficient for a pump like that?
Thanks
Chris

Re: (cjb80)
There's no need for a cell at all, that's the point of the sump (just about all these aftermarket lines stay under the chassis). For the fuel that you're moving you won't want anything to dol with stock lines, we always remove them all as they're ugly anyways. Generally most people with these fuel systems run a -8 to -10 return. We machined a couple plates for Brian's/Duc's tanks that block off the hole where the factory pump is mounted, then their returns feed in the top. With Will's tank Scott and I welded a bung into the front side of it as there isn't quite as much room with a CRX.

Re: (Kataku2K3)
If you like to drive your car a lot on the street don't run a weldon, if you're going to run an A1000 I would recommend getting a weldon dial-a-flow to keep the voltage down to save the pump when you're just cruising around. For 700 WHP I would run a sumped tank or a fuel cell with a pair of walbro 255 lph pumps. They are very reliable, don't require a voltage regulator, are cheap, and very quiet.
