Well what would eat the lining?I have seen 15 year old hondas driving around with no issues so if you store the car with fuel in it it should be ok.I would think you are going to leave fuel in the tank to occasionally start it since not starting it would probably be worse.

Yes. Fuel will begin to break down chemically and oxidize. This will cause rust and will destroy the tank and fuel lines, and injectors. This of course, is not a problem for a plastic tank, but you will still have problems with the fuel lines and injectors. There are fuel stabilizers that you can buy. I have never used them but I suppose they are effective.

My crx sat for 6 years. It had rust that looked like barnacles inside. The fuel pump had layers of metal peeing off. I purged the lines,installed a new fuel filter, pump, tank and it fired up!
