my speedometer hasnt worked since my clutch install. the speedo never worked from the minute i started driving. CEL says code 17 which is the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) we replaced the speed sensor with a known working unit and still it wouldnt work. so my question for you guys is their any way tthe shop fucked up the speedo drive gear? thats the only thing i can think of. anyone have any sugestions?
btw, CEL only comes on during hard driving, and my clutch master cly seems to be making a strange whining noise when the pedal is depressed all the way.

hmmm, dunno, maybe the sensor is not sitting correctly?

have you removed it to check its still ok? if you replaced it, was it with a new one?

while its out - check the drive gear...

Remove the speed sensor and make sure that the little drive shaft thingy is still in between the sensor and drive unit. if its there and you know that the speed sensor is good start checking the connector and wires for damage. They could of left it connected when removing the trans and dislodged the pins.
