Are you getting any noise when you lock fully to any side? If no, then all you need is a cv boot but make sure to clean all of the old grease out, inspect and then repack. If yes then you will need to replace the cv joint. Not too bad of a job...just messy! The boots can be had anywhere.

Get a new boot, a boot clamp tool & some grease from an auto-parts store. Take the axle out. Cut the clamps on the boot with some tin-snips. Slide the outer part of the axle off, making sure to keep the joint intact. Take off the boot & gather as much of the grease as possible in the boot. Search through the grease with your hand & feel for any metal pieces. Clean the joint & joint housing and inspect the joint for any damage. If there are no metal pieces in the grease, the joint moves freely, and there's no visible damage, you can reuse the axle without a problem. Pack the boot, joint & joint housing with grease. Slide the boot onto the axle, followed by the joint & housing. Clamp the large side of the boot to the housing. Push the axle & housing into each other & squeeze the boot to get any air out from inside of the boot. Clamp the boot to the axle, reinstall the axle & you're all done. Good luck!
