i have a torned outer cv boot. i'm trying to exchange it with a new one but i can't get the outer shaft off. i changed a inner cv boot before but i just can't get the outer one off the helms isn't helping either do i need to take the inner cv joint out to replace the out one??

 

Yes, you need to take off the inner joint and then slide the outer boot down the axle and off the inner side.
