Default ::need help frpm the pro's!!! PROPER BREAK-IN??::

ok, i recently got a block built and i am hearing soo many different methods to break it in im going crazy! i know air/fuel has to be almost perfect at first start up, but the only way to do that is to take to get it tuned w/ wide band, but ive also been told not to tune right away, because it needs to be broke in a bit...whats your experiences and what is the correct way..?

yea, ive read ib.com writeup 9good ****) but is it really necassary? i dont really want to pay $225(what it costs to tune around here) just to get a/f, and check to make sure things are correct, just to turn around 100-500 miles later to go back and dyno tune.....but obviosuly thats what im gonna have to do...wish i had a damn wideband 02

As far as I know, when breaking in a new block, after filling it with oil, you're suposed to drive REALLY slow, like up to 40 mph in second or 3rd gear(always engaged) and let it decelerate to 20 mph. do that for 20-30 min. I'm not exactly sure if that's the right way, but it's what I read from an automtive training manual. You have to do it with a N/A setup too. As for tuning... just get a ls 1.8 ecu. You probably can't use the 2.0 ls ecu, because it'll thow codes for AWD . I can't remember much about it, but hope it helps.
