Need Help On B16A!!!
Hello guys..I am working on my friends B16a Powered Civic and need some info on where to set his Fuel Regulator..He has the B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator.. I am not sure what size injectors come on the Jdm B16a so I can't correctly set the pressure..Also how in the world do you set the idle on the engine..It has a Mugen chipped ecu and it idles around 1500 rpms..It is also very irratic..Like it is missing..But when you get it out on the road and give it an ample amount of gas it hauls...Any info would be greatly appreciated...Thanks Guys
Are you throwing out any ecu codes?
Referring to my manual, it's most of the time, the eacv sensor (iacv, cold start sensor, tons of name for it). That sensor triggers almost all idle effects. Second would just be the fuel injectors. Check if the throttle cable is not too tight or too loose, it could be why it idles high. Alrite, warm up your car to normal temp with nothing else operating, disconnect your eacv sensor that is mounted on your intake manifold. After that, adjust your idle screw to set your idle at around 700-800rpm. I set mines at 750. Make sure the rpm doesn move around. It could be off like +/- 25rpm. Then, turn off your car, plug in your eacv sensor, reset ecu, and turn on your car. The idle SHOULD be around 700-800. Mines revs at 1400rpm when the motor was in, then i did the procedure i explained, and it revs smooth and nice at 750rpm with no bouncing of the rpms whatsoever. If you can't set it right, check all your hoses. I forgot which hose that makes the car idles like sh*t, but i'll know it if i go to my car, cause it fell loose on me during traffic. Check map, tps, The eacv sensor doesn't have to throw out any codes, it could just be off, which is common. Easy to replace, only takes 5minz with help, 15minz. by yourself.
Is this for the jdm b16a1,2, or 3? or the us b16a? If it's for the b16a1, and you still retained the stock manifold, you can use the 88-91civic/crx eacv sensor. for the b16a2,3, you can use 92+ Integra, 92+ Civic Si or EX, 99 Si coupe, or the 97-98 CRV eacv sensor, it's the same. I don't know about the del sol eacv sensor, cause i don't know anybody that has a del sol vtec i can compare my engine to.
As for the fuel, i forgot the displacement of the stock injectors. With the vacumn line attached to the fpr, the pressure should be around 38-40psi with no engine modifications.

in which case, more fuel pressure wont be too much benfit unless you got serious mods...
40psi max with vacuum hose detached.
as for the idle - teh above description is text book beautiful and is basically hte only way to set the b16a idle.
HTH,

ps the stock b16 squirters are 270cc

it A B16A and the ECU ids reading a CODE 5 the MAP and im not to sure bout the vaccum hoses cuz on the diagram i have it has two little cylinders onthe firewall beside the MAP sensor we only have one so that dont help so what do you think?

I don't know about the JDM B16A, but a US B16A should have 40-47psi with the vaccum hose detached.

mine would run rich like a bitch at 47psi though...

the charcoal canister thingy needs to be connected around there as well.
there is another thing that attaches to the fuel pressure regulator and purge valve and this attaches to the back of the intake manifold and hte FPR.
does this help?
