B16A IDLE PROBLEM!!! HELP PLEASE!!
Hi,
I am new to the forum, should have joined a while ago tho as I always read thr threads through google!
I recently rebuilt my JDM B16a civic sir2 engine, it had a few hick ups but it was running sweet until...
I cleaned the FITV and adjusted it a bit, also, (more stupidly) I adjusted the TPS, once all was back together it was idling up and down between 800rpm to around 2000rpm, I managed to stop this by adjusting the TPS, but it is revving around 1500rpm all the time now! I cannot seem to get it down!
I've tried:
idle screw
recleaning the IACV
readjusting the TPS
readjusting the FITV
checked for vacuum leaks
its doing my head in as its burning more fuel and its not running great.
any ideas???
any help would be much appreciated
cheers

First off, get a multi-meter and do a search on how to set the TPS sensor properly instead of just moving it around!
A quick way to see if its your IACV or FITV is to pull off the intake pipe at the throttle body, if you look into the opening you will see the ports for each of them.
With the engine running, cover each hole with your finger one at a time, if one of them causes the RPM to drop that one is most likely your problem.
If none of those work, get back to looking for vacuum leaks!

MORE HELP REQUIRED!!!!
I looked up how to set the tps and even bought a new one, it still hasnt solved the problem, for extra reassurance i even bought another iacv and fitv, neither of these solved the problem!
The revs are still up around 1500rpm and wont drop after the car heats up, furthermore, when i cut the engine it sounds different like it almost splutters to a stop. My fuel consomption is also really bad atm!
I am stumped! I really don't wanna take it to honda for them to rip me off! any ideas??
thanks in advance

thanks for that extra tip, i covered the whole intake and indeed it did not die, sprayed more care cleaner around and found a small leak where the throttle body meets the IM.
my fault as i stupidly tried to put an extra gasket in between. i took it out and put some gasket sealer all round and torqued it down to spec. so far so good and its idling fine! phew what an unnecessary pain that was!
anyone who has similar problems my advice is carefully check all vacuum lines and seals around the IM.
Thanks to everyone who gave advice on this thread.
