need advvice on b18b1 build.
First off, I have been tinkering with cars almost all my life. I have never went to school to learn how to build a motor or any of that sort. Everything I know and have learned is self taught, or been researched since now days anything can be found online.
This past week I watched my friend replace bearings in his 4g63 awd talon and it has motivated me to try and tackle my own build instead of paying over a grand for someone else to build my motor. With that said any advice? I have over 20k dollars in this build and don't want to screw it up, but on the other hand the only shop capable around here has screwed me before.
I have been doing quite a bit of research lately and found some really good videos and articles on questions I had like if you use assembly lube on both sides of the bearings, which you don't, and a few other things. There are a couple things I will not be able to do nor will I want to attempt like p&p the head, and prepping the dart block, align hone finish hone and. Any other machine work. I put together my rotating assembly and have taken apart my stock head so I know how everything should go, but on the bottom end is the main thing just checking clearances and making sure torque specs are followed? This all seems to easy or am I missing something? I think of myself as a pretty mechanical inclined person. Should I do the assembly or pass it off onto someone else. The way I see it this is a learning oppurtunity and im sure ill learn something I didn't already know.

I felt more overwhelmed searching for a shop than thinking of doing it myself. Really the only thing stopping me from doing it right now is needing the finishing machine work done on the head and block. I am limited with tools as in dial bore gauges, machinist micrometers, and things of that nature, but I can borrow that stuff from some friends.
As for going slow, I plan on it. The best way I think is going to be meticulously double and triple checking everything I do and if im unsure research, or ask someone who knows and does it for a living.
Thanks for your reply.
