Name this part!!!
Can someone tell me the name of this part and its purpose. It is on a B18b that i just install and is leaking radiator coolant from time to time. Weird thing is the B18b that i just took out of the car has the same fitting and then runs to the back of the block just underneath the intake manifold, but this motor doesnt have that tap on the back of the block. Any ideal????????

That would be your fast idle valve. When the engine is cold it opens up and lets air bypass your throttle plate, which makes your engine idle faster so that it can get up to operating temperature faster. They way U have it (no coolant connection) the valve will just always think it’s cold and bypass air all the time. You could prob. counteract your faster idle from this by adjusting your idle screw, that way your car is not idling fast all the time (just might take it longer to worm up at idle). Or U can reconcet the coolant lines.

thats the thing on the motor i have it doesnt reconnect to anywhere. On the B18b that i just swapped out it goes over and connects to the bottom of the intake or just right under it on the top of the block. On the motor i have in now B18b ( not for sure what model) it has the valve on the throttlebody, but not into the block.
So what is your question? Not sure I understand what your asking, sorry...
U what to know were the coolant lines should go? If so find the coolant line that goes into your idle control valve, U should see this unit under the spring were the cable conects to the throttle. The coolant should run 1st into and back out the fast idle valve then on to this idle control valve (they are in series). Sorry if that don't help, I have never done a swap so I'm not sure what probs your having. I hope U get it all running
Also it really not that big of a deal to leave that coolant line bypassing the fast idle valve like I said in my 1st post.

Hey there, I helped dwilson put this motor in. The problem is that the old motor had a fitting on the back of the block/intake, where the blue arrow is pointing in the picture, the new motor doesn't have that fitting. So we weren't sure if the hose was supposed to go somewhere else or if there is somewhere we can run it into. The red arrow is the direction the hose is supposed to go, and the blue is where the fitting is on the old motor. On the old motor it is right beside the black hose that is right under the red arrow in the pic. Thanks for any suggestions or help on this.

the 92/95 cars had it on the bottom of the throttle body, the newer 96+ ones jsut have a bypass for the lines under the t/b.
for your purpose you dont need it if you have a b18b one cause thats from a 96+ motor.

Don't send coolant into it at all, there should be another fitting near it were the coolant is going in. Take it off and trace it back to were it came from and close it off.
