My LS swap having weird problem. Pls help
I just did an 96 LS swap into a 92 Civic DX. The car ran fine for couple days until I went to a gas station and fill up gas (92 octane). Right after I filled the gas to about half tank, the car wouldn't start. I tried to start it couple times, and it fire up and ran for less than a mile before it would stall again. Since then this problem tend to be permanent. It would start, ran for a while and die, I have to wait about 5-10 minutes before I can start the car and one after the other it would die. Anyone here have similar symptom as mine? Pls help. Thanks in advance for any help
I suspect it a main relay, but turn out that main relay still click when I put the ignition switch to ON position.
I'll change spark plugs and fuel pump this weekend see how it goes...
BTW is the OBD2 Intake manifold different from OBD1? I'm having trouble with the Fast Idle Thermovalve, I don't know where the inlet of the valve connect to.

I just change spark plugs, and the problem still there
The fuel pump seem to ran fine, but all of a sudden it shut off and the car die. Could this be something wrong with my battery or electrical problem?

nope...no CEL at all
The engine ran fine until I went to a cheap gas station to fill gas. Could it be the gas?
I also test the fuel pump by connected directly to the battery and the pump seem to run fine.
I can't really hear the main relay, but when I'm grab the relay while turn the ignition switch on, I could feel it ticking inside; is this consider a good relay?
BTW I also go ahead and resolder all the joints on the main relay.
Thanks

There best of my knowledge, there are two ground right? Transmission and valve cover? Is there any other ground that I should look at?
The car seem to idle longer if I don't rev the engine. Once I give it a full throttle it usually die right after I let go the pedal, but sometime the idle would drop to almost dying but manage to keep up. My assumption is fuel delievery is at fault.

I would also check to see if your battery terminals are tied down correctly.... the same thing drove me nuts on my prelude.. then I checked the cable and it was all good...

get some chevron techron fuel system cleaner its the best in my opinon also can u hear ur fuel pump buzz when u turn the key to the on position you should be able to hear it buzz
Right now I'm about 90% sure that the cause is from main relay. When I let the car sit for the whole day, the engine will start easily, then would die after a while, then waited and started and die until I most likely won't be able to start the car. The longer I let the engine run, the longer I have to wait before I can start the car again. So I took out the main relay and let my A/C blow at it, and plug it back in, and it would start again. weird.
I'll try change the relay see if the problem still there.

the fuel pump prime, but not every single time. Is there a possibility that main relay started to have "a brain of itself"? I'll try go dealership and buy me a new relay, they quote me $70 for one
sounds funny but go over evey connection on your motor I had a similar prob and it turned out the the injector grounds by the thermostat housing had corosion between the housing and connector. Sometimes these motors we get sit for a little while befor we put them in and beat them up. If not that make sure your ecu is pluged in all the way and none of the pins are not in all the way sounds dumb but ive seen it and it usualy is a stupid little thing "overlooked". good luck
OK here the update!
I just change the main relay this morning, and the problem still there. So main relay is eliminated. I'll change the fuel pump tommorow. What I notice is that right when the fan turn on, that is when the engine will die out. Is this have to do with battery or alternator or maybe the cooling system? My guess is that when the fan turn on, it drawn current from the battery, so there not enough current for the other components to run. That was just a guess.

OK guys, I'm total lost! The problem is still there
Here's what I did:
Change main relay
Install a Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Checked and sanded all ground connections
Checked ECU connectors
Change Injector seals
Added Chevron Fuel System Cleaner to fuel tank
I carefully observe the engine and notice that the engine will stall when it's gets hot, usually right after the radiator fan turn off the first time. The longest run that it can last is when I let the car sit for a day or so. When I rev the engine, there's something that look like water shooting out from the muffler. While the engine run there's also a very soft ticking sound every now and then, and the sound I think it come out from the distributor. Anyone have any ideas about this? I'm try to explain everything to the best of my knowledge. Thanks

I think 92-95 Civic and 94-up Integra using the same size battery.
I haven't done the compression check, and since I have the motor, I didn't change the timing belt yet. I'll look over these issue though.
Thanks

If your timing was off it would be a constant prob not an on off thing try a new distributor call a friend with an ls and take his distributor fora a spin its only like a 20 min swan off and on then bounce and see whats up. Also check your themostat replace it its only about 7 bucks said and done it sounds to me like you may have moor than on prob start with the smaller ones then the bigger ones usualy go away. Over heating maybe even if the needle isnt rising your radiator may need to be replaced remember the ls is going to get hotter then your cingl cammer.
I finally fix the problem
. It was the igniter that cause all this frustration, so I swap it out for my stock DX igniter and its work fine, the fan turned on 5 times and no die out
. After all I've gained alot of experience with fuel pump and main relay, and something about car. This is the first swap that I did, although I have some problem but I've learn alot of things.
Thanks H-T members for all the help, I'm looking up to you guys for more advice.
