Default Starting Problem Please HELP!

Alrighty here is the situation......whenever I get into my car to start it I put the key into the "on" posistion to hear the fuel pump primer up.....then I turn the key and start it....but then it all of a sudden it boggs down and my car shuts off, the gas pedal isn't responding to me pressing on the gas either......then I try to start it again, now its just turning over without starting at all, then I have to wait about 2 min for the fuel pump to be able to primer up again, then try and start it. Then the same thing happens the first time I tried to start my car......then I play the waiting game again, when i try to start it, I press on the gas pedal until its revving at like 6K ...then I just leave it idling there. It literally takes me about 4 to 5 min. to start my car......getting frustrated here....someone please help...thanks in advance

check fuel filter and injectors... that's what it sounds like at least... could also be bad spark plugs too widely gapped

Maybe the fuel pump is going, or you have a leak in the fuel line. But that's weird that it would work then not work.

I'm having a similar problem with a 91 civic 4 door lx. The battery is dead, but it will start from a jump. It seems to idle ok, then when I put it in drive and move a few feet, it will stall out.

I haven't figured out why yet, but when I do, I'll let you know what the problem was. Maybe it will be the same thing.

could be timing... I mean if you are getting it started does it quickly idle and then shut off or can you get it to even idle at all? Maybe could be a bad IACV causing surges.

Sounds like your main relay is going bad.

i would think main relay or MAP sensor. if you unplug the MAP sensor the car does the same thing. I would put money on one of those two things though. good luck
