I have the distributor set all the way retarded on my b16. It feels like it needs to go further. The distributor is new from distributor king, but I am not sure it's broken so I don't want to send it back yet.
Is there a possibility that something might be messed up other than the timing (belt) or my problem being a bad distributor? I have used a timing light and when the distributor is set in the middle the light blinks on 0*. So I tried retarding the distributor all the way and the light blinks at about 7*. I took all timing belt stuff apart to make sure that my timing was dead on and it is. I also tried moving the belt over a tooth and then I advanced the distributor all the way, but that didn't help. I still can't reach 16*. I don't know why? The idle is good and I am timing it with the jumper jumped. I've reset the ecu too...
HELP!

I've read it might be the TPS, but I haven't tried adjusting it yet. Can anyone confirm this...before I start drilling on my throttle body and figure out that it's not going to fix my probelm?

when u have the adjustable light at O*, ur 16* mark should line up with the mark on the cover.
Adjust the light to 16*adv, and the O mark should line up with the mark on the cover.

Hmm... Let's see what is about half way between 14 and 0... You do the math. I said about 7*, not 7* on the mark. It was an estimate to help explain my problem.

did you let the car warm up?
i would also reset your ECU again after you get your timing straight. after you put the fuse back in, shut off all the accessories in your car that you can before you start it up, start it up, don't touch anything, and let it run for 10-15 mins. then, without touching any accessories, shut the car back off. this will allow your ECU to adjust itself for the new distributor.
this is the proper way to truly reset your ECU.
