Default LSV Timing

Im going LSV Turbo and I havent decided on cam gears, oil, water pump, or a timing belt because I heard the timing is always screwed on these setups. I planned on a ITR oil pump but not sure on the rest ppl say I should stick with stock gears and others say aftermarket so some solid answers would be appreciated guys thanks

Definitely everything you mentioned for your motor. A VTEC Oil and Water Pump are really important to have. You will have to use a GSR Timing belt if you use a VTEC Water Pump which are 22 teeth.

I'd also go aftermarket cam gears so you get the most power you can get when it gets tuned.

I just built my ls vtec with all these and started it yesterday and it all works well. They say the timing will never be perfect, but mine was really close to perfect so it can't be to the point where it will always be way off.

Good luck

Ooo ok nice....thanks for the input guys. Yeah I was strongly considering aftermarket gears but I was kind of lost about the pumps and belt. Also what's the difference between the ITR and GSR belt??

There is no Diff.. The ITR and GSR belt are the same as for the water pumps they both have 22teeth.. As for the oil pump just buy a 96+ LS oil pump which is OBD2. All the OBD2 oil pumps are the same(B series) screw what everyone says about getting a ITR pump its all the same. If you get a ITR one you'll just pay alittle more for the NAME "ITR".

Whatever Water pump your choose to go with get the timing belt for that water pump.

lets say you go with a gsr pump get a gsr belt or you get a ls pump use the ls belt

I've never had a problem with timing being off on this setup. any other question feel free to pm me.

Right. But if you use a b16 water pump, you still have to use a GSR Timing Belt. Non VTEC Pump= Non VTEC Belt. VTEC Pump= VTEC Belt

Also, for the older oil pumps for b series, they are the exact same except for the ones that come on on vtecs had a washer keeping a bolt from compressing the spring more. If you take the washer off the bolt, you have a VTEC oil pump now
