Default ls vtec over heating problem

well here is what i have:

94 ls shortblock
00' si head


here is what i have done:

changed headgasket on it twice
changed thermostat
changed coolant temp switch
flushed the coolant system

and it still idles at around 180 degrees whick is what the the thermostat is but when i go for the test drive it will go up to 210 or even 230. i have all i can think of. anyone else got any ideas.

have you bleed the coolent lines? make sure all clamps are tight, i had a problm with over heating and it tuned out to be a hose that wasent clamped well enough, i found it and clamped it and it never happened again. also it might be radiator cap, or even the radiator. check water pump too, but most likely you will hear a noise with that. could be all of those things.

ohh your head or block could be warped, and makes it not get an even seal.

no not you. it is a local guy.


yea the autometer sending unit can't be mounted on the side of a b16 head cause it is to long so you have to relocate it somewhere else.

yea the autometer electrical gauge a post that you put inline with the coolant and the gauge reads the temperature from it.
